This spherical vessel showcases David Gappa’s command of the graal technique, a Swedish-originated method requiring the glass to be cased, cooled, carved with an internal design, then reheated and encased again in clear glass — a slow, exacting process that leaves the decoration permanently sealed beneath the surface. Here, wisps of white bloom like smoke or clouds within a deep aubergine body, appearing three-dimensional and slightly out of focus, as though viewed through water. A glossy black rim caps the compact, orb-like form, grounding the piece visually and offering a striking contrast to the plum tones below. A quiet, jewel-toned statement piece, fully one-of-a-kind. Piece is approximately 6” tall.
